GCSE Success!

At IES Breckland we are proud of the hard work and effort of students and staff to secure the schools best ever GCSE results.

The percentage of pupils securing a pass at GCSE level in English and Maths has risen for the third year in a row to 52% in 2017. Previously this figure stood at 40% in 2015 and 45% in 2016. Over 30% of students achieved a good pass at GCSE (Grade 5 or above) in English and in Maths – these achievements were despite attainment at Key Stage 2 being significantly lower than the national average.
Continued improvement was seen in English results, where 71% of students secured a GCSE pass grade, including 61% achieving a pass or above in English Language compared to 62% nationally. In maths 60% were successful in securing a GCSE pass grade 4 and above, in line with national average, again an increase on previous years GCSE results. A good pass (Grade 5 or above) was achieved by 50% of students in English and 35% in Maths.

Another highlight is the progress made by disadvantaged students at the school, which has been superb – leading to outcomes comparable to those achieved by all students at the school and demonstrates a clear closing of the attainment gap.

We are proud of all of our students outcomes, especially Jessica, Jasmine and Olivia who secured outstanding GCSE results. In terms of excellent progress, mention must go to Thomas, Callum and Drew  who have reaped the rewards of hard work and commitment to their studies.
